Services
Three Forks provides service for custom work, involving residential framing, cabinet work, finish carpentry, and woodworking.
I have limited my scope to these categories in order to provide quality craftsmanship. Three Forks partners with other local, like minded businesses to tackle larger projects and can provide referrals and project management outside of its scope.
Thank you!

Carpentry (ˈkärpəntrē) The art or trade of a carpenter specifically: the art of shaping and assembling structural woodwork. I began residential framing in 2006 while in high school and was immediately infatuated with the blend of art, mathematics, and practical physics. With Three Forks, I have tackled several residential framing jobs partnering with like minded local businesses. Together, we approach framing with an academic, and thoughtful approach. We loathe hastily constructed, hyper subcontracted, high volume building where profits precede quality, health, and safety. We are not intimidated by advanced framing, complex layouts, and specialized work. Together, we bring our education and careers spanning from mechanical engineering, healthcare, ornithology, and outdoor recreation into a unique and talented crew. Our diverse backgrounds help bring an special approach to problem solving and project management. The scope of carpentry covers home building, residential additions, shed building, high grade wood fences, decks, and other outdoor wood projects.
Cabinets kab(ə)nəts A cupboard with shelves or drawers for storing or displaying articles. The difference between well constructed, thoughtfully laid out, beautiful cabinets and mass produced, particle board junk is undeniable. I am passionate about making strong, beautiful cabinets with solid wood and select engineered materials. You will get custom dimensioned cabinets with site-constructed, solid wood face frames, solid wood drawers with dovetails, rabbets, or finger joints at your chosing. I use the highest grade European and American made hardware for hinges and slides. I am a disciple of traditional woodworking and incorporate many of these techniques in my work.
Woodworking (wo͝odˌwərkiNG) The activity or skill of making things from wood. My woodworking is inspired by traditional methods. While modern tools are not abandoned, I do not believe in shortcuts. I use both machines and hand tools. I pride myself in keeping my plane irons and chisels scary sharp. Often I preach that good woodworking starts with quality workholding and sharp tools. Traditional methods include longstanding, time proven joinery (the process of joining multiple pieces of wood together), such as dovetail joints on drawer boxes, mortise and tenons on legs and stretchers, rabbet and dado, with hardwood construction, and hand finished work. I prefer solid wood, but am knowledgeable in educating clients to make thoughtful decisions on design and materials. When is it appropriate to use furniture grade plywood, Baltic Birch, engineered products, and when it is best to stick to solid materials. I prefer classic, naturally derived, oil based finishes, beeswax, paste wax, milk paint, and shellac. These finishes will leave wood feeling like, well, wood. I generally despise creating artful work, and encapsulating it in a plasticy shell that looks best before getting its first scratch. Although durable, synthetic finishes are hard to repair, and not longstanding as it must be sanded down to bare wood. Oil and wax finishes can simply be re-applied.
